Introduction of the Joint Shoe Manufacturing and Training Center, built in Hatay in cooperation with the United Nations Development Agency Programme and supported by the Romanian and Swedish provinces.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Romanian Ambassador to Turkey, Stefan Alexandru Tınca, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey Resident Representative, Louisa Vınton, the Provincial Director of the Social Security Institution, Hamit Bal, the Hatay Provincial Director of Trade, Halit İmrek, the President of the Hatay Shoe Manufacturers Chamber, Doğan Aydın, and representatives from the shoe industry and various NGOs. Future Masters Will Be Trained

The center, which is focused on the Shoe Manufacturers Specialized Small Industrial Site in the Kisecik Neighborhood of Antakya district, where branding is rapidly continuing, aims not only to produce but also to train the workforce of future parts, namely the shoe masters. The project was implemented as part of UNDP's efforts to support the textile, leather, and footwear sectors in the provinces affected by the earthquake. Foreign Support for the Latest Technology

In his speech, Oğuz Alibekiroğlu, Secretary General of the Eastern Mediterranean Development Agency (DOĞAKA), emphasized the importance of the center:

"All the resources used for the construction of the center's building and the procurement of machinery and equipment are provided with the support of the United Nations Development Programme and Romania and Sweden. This center, which houses the latest technology in footwear manufacturing, makes it possible to restart the entire shoe manufacturing process. This project will enable the sector to recover."

Romanian Ambassador Tınca and UNDP Representative Vınton also expressed their confidence in the project's contribution to employment and new opportunities for the people in the region. The center will play a critical role in the renewed mission of Hatay's footwear industry.
